Is CrossFit safe? Here's how we make it safe at CrossFit Leiden
Fair question. You’ve seen the videos of people flinging barbells. That’s not what training looks like here.
Our safety ladder
- Technique first. Every movement starts light, often with just a PVC pipe or empty bar.
- Weights you earn. Load only goes up when your form says so, not your ego.
- A coach in every class. Maximum 14 people, so someone is always watching your movement.
- Scaling is normal. Every workout has versions for every body and every day.
The numbers
Research on CrossFit-style training shows injury rates comparable to recreational running and lower than most team sports. The biggest predictor of safety is coaching quality, which is exactly where we invest.
And with the Fysiofabriek inside our gym, small niggles get checked before they become real problems.
Intensity is optional. Technique is not.
