Update: The CrossFit Leiden Intramural Open

This Friday the Intramural Open is starting! We are very much looking forward to it and we are already enjoying all the movies the teams published!

If you aren’t in a team yet and you have no idea what it is then read this post.

Some general notes:

  • You can still join (there is a few spots left), but need to be adopted by one of the teams. If you did not join yet just contact one of the teams and they will set you up.
  • Make sure that you have signed yourself up on our sign-up sheets. We need to know your shirt size and your payment method for the 25 euros.

Weekly timeline:

Thursday night: CrossFit.com will announce the workout of the week!
Fridays: All regular classes for Friday night have been cancelled. From 6 to 9 PM we will have our
“Thank God it is Friday Open” event!” You will have to tell your team captains before Friday if you can be a part of this event because they will create the heats for this night.
Saturdays: Wods as regular but members can do the CrossFit open workout on our personal training area. Your captains need to know about this as they will make sure that only 2 members will be doing the WOD at the same time.  You need a judge to validate your score and your captains need to be informed of the score. Videotape your workout as proof!
Sundays: Wods as regular but members can do the CrossFit open workout on our personal training area. Your captains need to know about this as they will make sure that only 2 members will be doing the WOD at the same time. You need a judge to validate your score and your captains need to be informed of the score. Videotape your workout as proof!
Monday: Regular class schedule. Deadline for workout score submission. (Be sure to leave us time to validate your score!!!!!) The captains should have all scores which will be shared with our coaching team. Scores of members that have registered on games.crossfit.com need to be uploaded by our coaching staff on Monday night. A total ranking for the workout will be created.

 

HOW TO EARN POINTS:

  1. +1 Point per week per member – Attendance: every member of a team that completes the Open weekly workout on our Friday night “THANK GOD IT IS CROSSFIT OPEN”.
    1. Must be completed during our Friday night event.
    2. If you cannot attend on Friday night, then you have to inform you captains about this. You can do the workout on Saturday or Sunday during the regular WOD hours in the back of the gym. Only 2 people at the same time can do the workout. You need someone to judge the workout. Please note that you don’t get point for doing the workout on Saturday or Sunday.
  1. Points per week per top finishers:
    1. +1 point for top 3 RX male
    2. +1 point for top 3 RX female
    3. +1 point for top 4 scaled/masters male
    4. +1 point for top 4 scaled/masters female

*PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU CAN SCALE THE WORKOUT EVEN MORE THAN IS PRESCRIBED TO MAKE IT A SAFE EXPERIENCE. BUT IN THIS CASE YOU WILL NOT COLLECT POINTS FOR TOP FINISHERS.

  1. +5 Points per week for the team that has shown the most community contribution (food, drinks, noise, support from family and friends etc.). Will be judged by coaches. No arguing.
  1. +5 Points for the team that has the best social media coverage with #crossfitleiden @ facebook or Instagram.
    1. Social media coverage between (1) release of workout on thursday night and (2) the next Tuesday (aprox. 4 days).
    2. Social media coverage not related to any other of the points. Will be based on 1 social media post only.
  1. Weekly Challenges
    1. 1st week THEME – LEIDEN
      1. +1 point per participant that represents the city of Leiden in any eccentric kind of way during the Friday night event.
      2. Timeframe – Friday (2/24) 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  • Proof- social media picture/video of your team. #teamname and #crossfitleiden
  1. 2nd week – Burpees With a Stranger
    1. +1 point per participant that gets a stranger to perform 5 burpees
    2. Timeframe – From Sunday (3/05) to Saturday (3/11)
    3. Participant needs to do burpee together with stranger
    4. Each participant can a maximum of 1 point.
  • Proof – post a video/picture on Facebook/Instagram of you and the stranger.Tag #teamname and #crossfitleiden
  1. 3rd week THEME – 80’s NEON
    1. +1 point per participant that is dressed in 80’s neon clothing.
    2. Timeframe – Friday (3/10) 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  • Proof- social media picture/video of your team. #team name and #crossfitleiden
  1. 4rd Week THEME – YOUR TEAM!!!
    1. +1 point per participant that is representing their team in a special way. Be creative!
    2. Timeframe – Friday (3/17) 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  • Proof- social media picture/video of your team. #team name and #crossfitleiden
  1. 5th Week – Super Hero Mile Run
    1. +1 point per participant that dresses up in a super hero like costume and completes a mile run/walk.
    2. Timeframe – Friday, March 24th at 5:30pm right before the party.
  • Proof – If you are there, we will see you.
  1. +8 Points (team) BONUS – Team Bonding: If your team gets together socially outside of the gym (75% of your team (14 teammates)) – Picture posted on our FB page as proof)…you get points. This is a one-time bonus. It can be done at any point during the 5 weeks.
